Which operating systems and browsers can I use?
The Label Maker is optimized for the following systems and browser settings:

Windows 98 and later, using Internet Explorer or Firefox
Mac OS X using Firefox

How do I enable "pop-up" windows to see and print Preview pages?
The Label Maker utilizes “pop-up” windows to preview and print. In all browsers, when clicking "preview" you should see two pop-up windows. The first, large window will display the labels you have just created. The second, smaller window acts as a "remote control" that has 3 buttons, "print", "edit", and "cancel". This is the window that sends the previewed labels to your printer.

Enabling "pop-up" windows in Windows using Internet Explorer

In Internet Explorer, go under the "Tools" Menu on the top tool bar.
Select "Pop-up Blocker" and then "Pop-up Blocker Settings."
In the "Pop-up Blocker Settings" window that opens, the first text area is "Address of Web Sites to Allow."
In this area, type in "environmentsresources.info" and click the "add" button.
Repeat this procedure, and enter "eichild.com".
Click the "Close" button, and then Close and re-launch Internet Explorer.

Enabling "pop-up" windows in Windows using Firefox

In Firefox, go under the "Tools" Menu on the top tool bar.
Select "Options" and click on the "Content" tab.
Next to "Block pop-up windows" click the button "Exceptions..."
In this area, type in "environmentsresources.info" and click the "Allow" button.
Repeat this procedure, and enter "eichild.com".
Click the "Close" button, and then Close and re-launch Firefox.

Enabling "pop-up" windows in Mac OS X using Firefox

Under the "Firefox" menu, choose "Preferences"
Click on the "Web Features" button.
Click on the "Allow Sites" button, and type in "environmentsresources.info"
Click the "add" button.
Repeat this procedure, and enter "eichild.com".
Click the "Close" button, and then Close and re-launch Firefox.

Why do my labels print on two pages?
If lines of text are printing across the very top and bottom of the pages, you can turn off “headers” and “footers” and the labels should fit completely on one page. Under the File menu, go to Page Setup and remove the info in the Headers and Footers fields. Additionally, the Margins should be set to no more than .75 inches on all four sides.

To remove headers and footers in Firefox for Mac, under the File menu go to Print, then select the Copies & Pages tab, and then select Firefox. Set all Page Headers and Page Footers to Blank.

What paper should I print on?
You can print on any paper or other media that is compatible with your printer. If you choose to print on adhesive label sheets, you will need to use the full-sheet label size. We have had good results with
Avery® #6465™ White Removable Full Sheet Laser Ink Jet Labels. They stick, stay, and remove cleanly.

Another time-saving, innovative product that we have had success with is Avery® 3270™ Ink Jet Magnetic Sheets that work with most current software versions and popular models of ink jet printers. (Check the product packaging to be sure these sheets are a good fit with your computer and printer.) Carefully read the enclosed Safety Tips, Recommended Printer Settings, and Step-by-Step Instructions. Then simply print your labels on the full-page magnetic sheets, and cut them out. They are automatically ready to stick onto most metal surfaces such as magnetic marker boards. Remember to feed only one magnetic sheet at a time through the printer.

When using paper, select a bright white, heavy-weight paper or card stock for the best result. You can also use photo paper if it is compatible with your printer.

How do I get the best color reproduction and print quality?
The color reproduction and print quality of your labels and signs depends primarily on the printer you are using. It is not unusual for there to be a difference between the color you see on screen and the color you see in the printed version. Feel free to experiment with different settings! You should set your printer to a high quality print setting and try different color settings to determine what produces the result you like best.
